OCEAN ROASTERS.

Over the last two decades, a wave of coffee roasters across the globe, known as the Third Wave, redefined ideas about sourcing, roasting and brewing coffee. Abandoning old approaches, these pioneers saw coffee as a natural product with many possibilities, recognising that different varietals, growing conditions, processing methods and brewing techniques could each yield something distinctive in the final cup.

We are what happens when passion becomes action. We're deeply rooted in science, and awe-inspired by nature. Our mission is to bring single origin, fair-trade, premium coffee to those who value quality coffee and care about the state of our waters

Join us as a Partner in Conservation: for every bag of coffee you buy we donate $1 to research and conservation efforts.

Our Mission

SUSTAINABILITY TO THE FOREFRONT

We at Ocean Roasters know that by making targeted investments in research and conservation projects, and particularly focusing on data gaps and implementation gaps, we can better empower small projects that have a large return on investment.

Scientists and conservationists working in oceans, lakes, and rivers often know how to make a lot happen from a little, with most folks just needing funds to buy materials and get into the field. Local communities and researchers move the needle with very little but often make a huge difference in our understanding of these ecosystems and how they can be restored.

With that in mind, we are doing whole partnerships with organizations and researchers that share this value to advance the whole health of ecological communities, or to better understand the overlooked organisms that play a role in those communities.

Below you'll find some of our partners you can choose to support.

OUR PARTNERS

State of the World's Sea Turtles

  • Each year, the State of the World’s Sea Turtles (SWOT) program allocates small grants to sea turtle scientists and conservationists to support their research, community outreach, and solutions to threats faced by endangered sea turtles globally.

  • To support these grants, you can select "State of the World's Sea Turtles" when selecting your coffee and/or tea to designate your $1 per unit to go specifically to this grant program.

Your donation will help ensure that sea turtles will be protected throughout their ranges, and that critical populations of these reptiles, around since the dinosaurs, will continue to exist for generations to come.

To see fascinating stories, stunning images, incredible maps and more about sea turtles, check out the 15 years of award-winning SWOT Reports below and thanks for your support!

Harbor Watch

  • Harbor Watch is a water quality research and education program working to study local waterways and stop sewage pollution at its source, protecting Long Island Sound. Harbor Watch's team of staff, students, and volunteers patrols hundreds of river, stream, and harbor field sites every 2 weeks, testing thousands of water samples for bacteria and providing actionable data to towns to stop pollution. Through education programs, they also train more than 50 high school and college students each year, providing hands-on field and laboratory training to the next generation of environmental stewards, at no cost to the student participants.

  • Select "Harbor Watch" when selecting your coffee and/or tea to designate your $1 per unit to research and conservation, which will enable the team to run additional bacteria tests in their laboratory and track down sewage pollution! Remote Ecologist

  • Remote Ecologist is a non-profit organization founded by our owner, Dr. Dave Hudson, and works by creating long-term field and lab projects to advance conservation and science, but also retention of scientists and conservationists. The major projects involved at this point are coral and mangrove restoration, coastal resilience, fisheries, and aquaculture. It will support all aspects of ecology, including forest and watershed work.

  • Select "Remote Ecologist" when selecting your coffee and/or tea to designate your $1 per unit to research and conservation, which will enable the team to keep restoration and conservation projects going on the ground! As we are closely affiliated, an additional $1 per unit will be donated. Click the button below to learn more about this important work, and thank you for your support!
